The Kaanapali Ocean Inn is worth considering if you're looking for discount hotels in Maui Hawaii! This 59-room property may be only a 2 star cheap Maui hotel, BUT, the big thing it has going for it is that it's located on the grounds of the Royal Lahaina Resort, and guests get full access to all of their amenities. World class white sand Kaanapali Beach is right out front, and snorkeling at the the famous Black Rock is just a short stroll away.

Amenities at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn

Discount hotels in Maui don't usually have a lot of amenities on-site.  But since THIS cheap Maui hotel is located right on the grounds of the well-equipped Royal Lahaina Resort, guests get access to everything they have to offer mere steps from their door.

They have a beach activities center with equipment rentals, lighted tennis courts, a concierge and activities desk, shopping and more! 

If you plan on spending some time at Kaanapali Beach out front, I highly recommend the beach cabana rentals - they made us feel pampered and comfy all day!  If you prefer a swimming pool, you'll have 3 to choose from, plus a jacuzzi!

There are 2 restaurants, and 3 bars (they're all good - we stayed at the Royal Lahaina and enjoyed them all!).  There's an ice-cream parlour and a sundry store. 

While I'm on the topic of food, I just HAD to say that dining is great at the resort's Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant!  Also, you can walk to the resort entrance and check out Basil Tomatoes (if you do this, be sure to check out the Hawaii Entertainment Book - they've historically had some great coupons that more than paid for the book!)

The Kaanapali Ocean Inn is a 3-story walk up.  So no elevators.  Just thought I'd mention that in case you have trouble with stairs for any reason.

When you arrive, you'll have to stroll over to the Royal Lahaina Resort's lobby for check-in.

There is a fee for parking.
